Caramel
Caramel is 30 years old and has been a therapy horse at One Heart Stables since 2017. He was graciously donated by his loving owners when they decided that it was time for him to move onto his next career.
Before becoming a therapy horse, Caramel taught many people the basics of riding and horsemanship. While we are unsure of his exact breeding, Caramel is 100% “Small but Mighty”! Caramel’s stall is located near the office door, and he often perks up his ears when people walk through the door in hopes that he will get some attention and scratches (and maybe some treats, too!).

Corey
Corey is 26 years old and has been a part of the therapy herd at One Heart Stables since 2017. While we are unsure of his exact breeding, Corey is a purebred sweetheart! Donated by his loving owners, alongside his best friend Caramel, Corey quickly settled into his new job as a therapy horse.
Before coming to One Heart Stables, Corey enjoyed teaching people how to ride, jump, and compete in horse shows! Often, he still re-lives his show horse days by getting pampered by his clients. However, one of Corey’s favorite activities now is to munch on grass for as much of the day as he can; in fact, his favorite spot in the field is in the far back corner, surrounded by the peaceful woods and birds chirping as he spends some quiet time by himself.

Dakota
Dakota is 17 years old and has been leased to One Heart Stables since 2021 by his loving owners. Dakota is an Appaloosa cross breed and has a speckled “blanket” on his back.
Before becoming a therapy horse, Dakota spent some of his life exploring the mountains of West Virginia as a trail horse before enjoying his time as a backyard pet.
With his current job as a therapy horse, Dakota uses his energy to connect with many clients at various stages of their therapy. Some of Dakota’s favorite pastimes include eating, just finishing eating, or thinking about eating!
Monty
Monty is 19 years old and has been leased to One Heart Stables as a therapy horse since 2022. Monty is a cross between a Friesian and a Haflinger horse, pulling the strength and charisma of both breeds into one.
Monty draws many people in with his huge brown eyes and thick, curly hair. He truly looks like a horse out of fairytale! Monty may appear to be smaller in size, but don’t let that fool you! His strength, playful nature, and personality make him an excellent therapy horse for many clients.
Monty loves to use his leadership to bring the energy in the herd up, especially around dinner time (even when that means he “rearranges” the fence to reach the juiciest, greenest grass that always seems to be on the other side!)

Nudge is 17 years old and has been leased as a therapy horse to One Heart Stables since 2022 by his loving owners. Nudge is a cross between a Thoroughbred and a Clydesdale draft horse.
Before starting his career as a therapy horse, Nudge taught others how to care for horses, begin riding, and even how to ride over jumps! Nudge is aptly named, as he can often be seen “nudging” others as he asks for some connection – or snacks!
Nudge is uniquely colored, and even his eyes are two different colors! Nudge has a big personality and likes to make sure every visitor in the barn stops by his stall to say “hey.”
Rose

Thunder is 27 years old and has been a therapy horse at One Heart Stables since 2021. Thunder was donated by his longtime owners and sponsors of Christian Children’s Home of Ohio. Thunder is a Thoroughbred/Paint horse cross.
While Thunder adjusted to his new job as a therapy horse, he quickly gained the love and attention from his clients that every relationship deserves; his big eyes and gentle spirit draw many people into him.
Thunder loves to be with his horse friends that he has gained while at One Heart Stables and can often be heard calling out to his horse buddies from across the field.
Our Therapy Horses
Each of our therapy horses has a unique personality, as you’ll read below. We’ve come to believe that people will pick the horse that they truly need, and in turn our clients are able to engage in an honest, non-judgmental relationship with their horse. The skills learned in developing that relationship can then be easily translated to developing relationships with people.
