Sharon Mathias Cain is a Licensed Independent Social Worker. She earned her Masters of Social Work Degree from The University of Akron. She has experience working in a variety of venues for over 20 years. Prior to clinical work, she spent a year working for AmeriCorps as a VISTA volunteer working with homeless families. After that, she taught teens who were at risk for dropping out of high school. Sharon has experience clinically treating clients with diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorders and attachment difficulties. She has worked with children in foster care and adoptive families. Sharon has had extensive training in evidenced-based treatment modalities such as Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Sharon was born and raised in Tuscarawas County and enjoys gardening, hiking, camping and spending time with her husband, two sons and golden retriever, Chewbacca.
